I almost missed getting it but I got it with him in the hallway after he left the after concert reception. Its a little bit of a long story (maybe I'll share it here on a blog later) but I'll give the short story here. A little while after the concert, I was blessed to get a ticket to the reception from one of the opening acts. They had extra tickets and they wasn't sure what the reception was for. I started to head back to my car to go to the reception. Before I got this ticket, I'd planned on going to the vtONE Spring Worship Event, which was going on at the same time. vtONE is a VT organization that brings various campus ministries together once a semester for a 3+hr praise and worship night and the Spring one is the big one, where they record their annual CD, which the proceeds help cover the worship events and ministry they do around campus. I found out about Kirk's concert from the advertisement at church about vtONE. vtONE advertised their concert was at 8pm after the Kirk Franklin concert in Burrus. Days before the concerts, I wondered if it's coincidence that both events were the same nite or was it on purpose, especially since vtONE was starting 2 hours later than usual. I wondered if Kirk would maybe drop in vtONE for a few minutes. After his concert, I wish I could've been in two places at one time. I was torn between being at vtONE and the reception. I was afraid if I went to the reception, he might show up at vtONE for a minute. Also, I hesitated because my camera battery was getting low and I was deciding if I had enough battery left to get a picture with him or should I quickly run to a store and get a disposable camera (which I hated to do for just one picture). After dropping in briefly on vtONE, I headed to the reception and got there a few minutes before Kirk left. I finally heard Kirk telling people bye and I found out from someone that he's leaving early to go catch a movie. I left and caught him in the hallway and got my picture taken with him with my camera. There's more details I could share, but basically, that's the short story of it.
