When I first got saved about 11 years ago, God gave me two things to help me make it in this Christian journey, His word and good Christian music. He didn't give me people, not right away. I mean there were lots of times that I felt really lonely. I was about 26 and all my friends were still doing dirt and loving it, so I became like a plague to them, and they left me alone. I was really lonely at times. But God gave me the Word and music.

There are a very small lot of gospel artists that the Lord brought to my attention, that I could tell were real, there weren't just singing or making music. They were really trying to live that Christian life like me....and Kirk Franklin was one of them. I can't tell you how many times and situations and struggles that I felt overwhelmed, and then I heard a Kirk Franklin song. One of the first was "Let Me Touch You and See if You are Real". Wow that was at a time when God felt for far away from me. I have all of his CD's and thank goodness they are CD's cause if tapes would have worn out a long time ago. I don't idolize him and I don't worship him, but I do thank God for him and I pray for him and his family.
